Thank you for your teamwork and enthusiasm as we get this new season rolling. Long email, lots to pass!
New families – We are here to help you! Please be encouraged to keep asking questions, and feel free to inquire of club students, too. Participation becomes easier as you learn the terminology and see examples demonstrated.
Returning Families – Please help by signing up on the white board promptly by 6pm for a coaching room (we’d like for our new parents to feel able to shadow their own children, and we need our returning-family support in order to fill the rooms with two adults in each). This is also a friendly reminder that each family must have one adult actively supporting the club night efforts each week. Support can be simply assisting another coach and being listening ears for speakers. We can’t do it without you!
Students – Thank you for making it to coaching rooms on time, listening, participating, taking notes, helping make the evening run smoothly, and respecting our club parents and the time they are making for you each week (bonus challenge for returning students: look for new folks to meet and come alongside — you remember your first season!). Does everyone know that every Stoa event has a unique set of rules? Those rules, as well as the exact ballots your judges will be using (!), are available online. Find them here and include as a part of your preparation: https://www.stoausa.org/resources. *Students who are interested in Parli* — please email Mr. Hosmer at steve@hosmer.org to be included in upcoming Parli practice efforts. Parliamentary Debate is an advanced debate — check rules for event eligibility. (hint: we highly encourage Extemporaneous Speech experience for our Parli Debaters!)
Dinner and Announcements – Do tear yourselves away from the delicious dinner before 6pm, in order to be in the sanctuary for opening announcements with us as a club. If you owe for last week’s meal, Venmo $3/person: https://venmo.com/u/Susanna-Hodge .
See #mondaydinner Slack channel to RSVP by tomorrow (Friday) if you’d like to join for pulled pork on Monday. RSVP by Friday for Monday meal.

To compete in tournaments, you must register also with the national Stoa league. Early bird Stoa pricing is in effect until Sept 30th: Stoa League Registration.
Ex Nihilo Tournament Update – our team has determined that we cannot host a January tournament, and we are working to acquire a location for a tournament in March. We will update as soon as we are able.
