Hello club!
It’s great to see the development in our students’ work as speeches and cases are presented and fine tuned. Well done to all, and safe travels to those currently attending the December tournaments in Redlands, CA.
We have only two club meetings remaining (Dec 12th, and Jan 2nd) before our own Point Loma Classic tournament next month. We’re excited and look forward to sharing that experience together.
Our team leads are coordinating their volunteer schedules so that we can share the load over that 3.5 day event, and we need “all hands on deck” support from our club families. We’ll be setting up and beginning check-in on the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, Jan 4th, then supporting the competition schedule (found here: https://ex-nihilo.homeschooldebate.net/schedule) throughout Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and then returning the facility as we found it by Saturday late evening. Areas where help is specifically needed are with student check-in, judge check-in, ballot push/return, judge orientation, juniors competition, hospitality, and facilities. If you know an area in which you are interested in helping, or the days/times that you are best available to help, please email us by Sunday so that we can finalize our rosters. Our hospitality team has coordinated meals for pre-order during the tournament for anyone attending. If you’d like to purchase meals for your family, log-in to your student’s registration and update a meal order this week!
Finally, we can’t emphasize enough our need for Community Judges. Having a full complement of judges available is the key to a smooth and successful tournament. We have a need for over 2000 ballots to be filled over the course of the 3 days. Please help us by extending an invitation to those you know who would be able to attend. Judges will be fully trained before their round by our team, and are welcome to join us even for a single round. There is a simple letter attached to help in recruiting.
