Reminder – Tournament training for parents and students, Monday, October 28th from 6 pm – 9 pm. Parents, this a must attend session! When we have students enrolled in tournaments our primary, and most important responsibility, is to judge rounds. Other parents will be judging your children throughout the tournament. It is only right that we reciprocate.We will cover in depth how to flow debate rounds, filling out ballots, the principles for providing feedback to the competitors, debate judging do’s and don’ts, and more. Our focus will be on TP and LD debate rounds. We will schedule a tournament training session for speeches after the Veteran’s Day Tournament. Child care will be provided for families where both parents attend the training session.
Parents with speech only students are encouraged to attend this tournament training session as many of the judging principals used to judge debate rounds are also used to judge speech rounds. Parents will inevitably will be called on to judge debate rounds from time to time so now is the time to prepare. Additionally, attendance will further expose your students to the art of debate in a meaningful and winsome way.
Speech – A room will be set up for students that need help with speech construction, and for Apologetics from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Extemp students should continue to work on the assignments given at club last week.
